The 3rd annual San Diego Tap and Jazz Dance Festival is an extraordinary event committed to bringing a more outstanding music and dance culture to the community for all ages. This international festival grows every year by expanding its repertoire of world-renowned dance instructors. These Dance Masters have performed on highly popular Broadway and Cirque du Soleil live shows, choreographed for So You Think You Can Dance and other TV specials, and had the pleasure to work alongside Gregory Hines and numerous other dance and musical Greats (too many to list here!).
This three-day extravaganza recognizes all levels of participants’ ability, from beginner to professional. The 2017 festival master classes will be held at Keiller Leadership Academy in Encanto/South East San Diego. This is a unique and wonderful approach to serving a wider extent of the communities in San Diego’s growing cultural scene. Whether you’re a budding young dancer or a seasoned enthusiast of tap and jazz, this event is for you!
The festival takes place Jan. 20-22. Classes begin Friday afternoon and go through the evening with the exhilarating Tap Jam (live jazz band) opening ceremony to end the first night. After a full day of exciting classes on Saturday, festival students and other companies, dance studios, and invited guests get to perform in the unforgettable evening event. This amazing “Showcase” to be held at the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation sold-out the first two years of the festival. Sunday is the grand event featuring the faculty and live jazz band at the San Diego Museum of Art’s Copley Auditorium. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to enjoy entertainment as well as local food and libations at Panama66.
